Why Bob Sapp Threw His Legacy Away

Fight with Kimo and the Tyson call out was wicked.

Ernesto demolition, the Big Nog battle.

Crazy to see THE BEAST turn into a kitten over the years.

If he was such a huge star didn’t he make millions?

It’s like he turned into his character in the Waterboy.

Yea he did. Bob claims 10 million plus he’s earned in fighting.

He could have been K-1s ticket to breaking America if things had worked out differently.

In 2004-05 when I lived in Japan the dude was everywhere!
Walk into supermarkets and his picture is in aisles there advertising snack brands, walk into a white goods store and a full size cardboard cutout is selling washing machines.
On TV I swear he’d appear every ad break.

Bob didn’t sell out his legacy. Bob’s legacy was selling out.

He quickly and painfully realised that being a fighter isn’t a good long term plan! He was a caricature in Japan and adopted it but along the way decided to keep taking fights and realised he was getting paid the same if he bit down on his mouthpiece and went to war or took a shot and went down saving him lots of injuries and healing time. He chose the later!

I was told this

He was so popular in Japan that they had Bob Sapp pop up stores

  • like you see around Halloween

One of the items that they had was tea bags containing his body hair

It appears they also made a sex toy from molding Sapps junk.

So can I just skip the video and say “money”?

I would normally never ask for a picture of something like this…. But a friend has asked to see it

Wow, they don’t to that anymore in wrestling causing too many neck injuries. And that was controlled.
He dumps him on his neck, it would normally break…

Sapp showed a ton of heart against Hoost and Big Nog, but the Cro Cop and Fujita fights took the wind out of his sails and he turned into Shannon Ritch.

Yes everything changed after Mirko’s left cross.

I heard Bob give an interview once where he explained the later fights.

Basically once he realized he couldn’t fight at the highest level, he was just making up with volume. And he didn’t have insurance and most overseas promotions didn’t pay medical bills. So he would try to win, but the second he faced adversity he’d just cover up and tap. He was talking about how much each individual stitch cost and how much more it would cost to actually resist, plus it might mean pulling out of another fight.

Not Yamato Damashii but I the era where fans are all “you go girl, it’s a sport and you don’t get paid enough to take brain damage” I don’t get why he gets the level of hate he does. And Ariel is a disingenuous little faggot who should never tell fucking anyone about any aspect of fighting.

I always thought the Nog slam and the Randleman slam of Fedor could have killed both guys. Both had scary power.
