Will Gable Stevenson ever recover?

I don’t think Gable getting slept has any bearing on whether or not Jon comes back. I hope he stays gay and retired though.

He only weighs 240 and carries a good bit of fat on him. He could easily make 205, imo. Cut 15lbs of fat and 20lbs of water weight and he’s 205. Bigger issue is I don’t think he has the skill right now to compete at the highest level of the lower weight classes.

Screw it, still book Gable vs Hokit. There’s not much else going on at HW.

LOL no, Hokit is fighting for the title. Josh would beat Gable before they stepped in the cage

Jon Jones was an outstanding fighter. That is unquestioned. That said, between his lifestyle, as well as an absence of experience as a trainer, leaves GE in a situation where he simply needs to join a real camp. Not ATT. He needs a camp equipped to train people like him. He has incredible wrestling, and has huge power in his hands. What he needs is someone who can work with him on his movement, positioning, and how to transition from striking effectively into his wrestling and when to make that shift in the flow of fights.

Jones had that exact same look during Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter when Uriah Hall slept his first protege Bubba McDaniel in about the same amount of time.

Exactly this.

Not saying this guy’s chin is late-stage Liddell or anything dramatic like that, but he took a very nasty KO.

Cutting 35 lbs and the dehydration that comes with it would certainly would not help his chin.

Another thing to consider is Gable is an elite wrestler, but he’s never had to cut weight.

If you look at his amateur career, he was good enough to just wrestle and dominate wherever his weight was. He consistently just moved up weight classes as he got bigger.

I imagine suddenly having to drop 35 lbs to be competitive may have a mental impact on his confidence.

he can just use his great wrestling to dominate instead of risking his chin

No I don’t think he is done after this but he’s going to have to change his mindset - now he realizes how hard these hvwts hit and he obviously doesn’t have iron chin like DC so he has to focus on setting up his takedowns and try to win with his grappling..

I said it from his first fight that he was starting to fall in love with his striking and I said that would be his downfall and here we are.. hopefully it’s a learning lesson for him
