A growing number of young men, often self-identified incels, are adopting a sissy identity, wearing women’s clothing, using makeup, and sometimes taking estrogen, without identifying as transgender. These men point to the intense pressures of modern masculinity and dating, particularly the rise of female hypergamy, women seeking higher-status partners, as reasons for rejecting traditional male roles. The trend, evident in online communities like Reddit and Etsy shops offering feminization guides, reflects frustration with social and economic challenges.
Dr. Rachel Levine, a Harvard College graduate and former Assistant Secretary for Health, supports the movement, stating, “This is a healthy, non-violent outlet for incels’ sexual frustration. These are men who will never have a wife or family; they need an outlet.” As hypergamy’s cultural acceptance increases, the trend may continue to grow.
