He didn’t look very confident and seemed to be frozen for long periods of time. He looked exhausted in the last two rounds

You want him to over commit and get caught with a left hook for your entertainment? You’re not suppose to fight at the strengths of your opponent. He had a great game plan and stuck to it.

We all know this had the potential of happening. That if Alex wanted to be a true MMA great and clean out the division, he’d have to fight the best fighter he’s fought up until now in this MMA career.

This fight reminded me a lot of the Usyk vs Fury fight. The bully got bullied and didn’t know how to respond to it. You can see Ankalaev studies Usyk’s game. The bouncing in and out on the toes, hand position, stance. The long jabs to the body and the high and low feints to set up his punching.
To a boxing nerd like me I thought it was beautiful work in there. Like Fury, Alex P didn’t respond well to the intelligent pressure by Ank and got out clinched.

To be fair the judges fucking sucked at their job as usual. His gameplan shpuld have netted him 1, 3, and 5, if we had competent judging.

I honestly hope Alex says fuck it and moves up to Heavyweight, and fights Aspinsl for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship. Cause Jones has just held up that Division to damn long already.
