Saw JC has some new one out on streaming, The Garderner. Might be a fun watch.
People always say Chuck was more legit fighter than Van Damme, but didn’t they both have the karate fighting background? Neither was going toe to toe in full contact kickboxing like Bill Wallace, Benny the Jet, etc right?
We couldn’t settle this in elementary school, what makes us think we can now

Michael Jai White would beat both their asses at the same time, cause they’re not REAL fighters. lol. He’s always talking shit, but they have more legit backgrounds than him. Billy Blanks would probably fuck MJW up.
In Van Damme’s early movies like No Retreat No Surrender he actually did more complex fight scenes. He looked pretty skilled. Fast, athletic and powerful, like a dude who could whoop someone’s ass. Then he went with the “cool” looking movie fighting, just repeating his cool looking kicks while flexing and screaming at dramatic angles, so people thought of him as an actor/fake fighter.
No way for Billy Blanks to beat Michael Jai White. Billy was the generation before. Chuck trained in Judo on off days from his Tang Soo Do training in Korea.

I think Chuck beats all of those guys. As mentioned he cross trained and he’s also a black belt in BJJ. Just because he was a point fighter doesn’t mean he couldn’t compete in a real fight. Look at Joe Lewis, a point fighter who did really well in full contact.

Remember the scene in Kick-boxer when he’s practicing in the park with his brother? It’s pretty apparent JCVD isn’t much in terms of full contact sparring.
I know it’s just a movie and they’re just fucking around but look at his defence when shits being thrown at him. Just like the new guy that just passed his intermediate test in MT.
