lol

They are changing laws relative to boxing so they can make a ‘UFC of Boxing’. Zuffa Boxing.

The Alphabets: WBC WBO WBA IBF - they will be fucked.

As Zuffa’s market share increases their pool will get smaller and smaller.

In the end they will be done. Maybe WBC will hang on in a modified form.

Luke is a drama queen. If Eddie or Crossdresser keep paying they will stay in business.

“Boxing as you know it”

Like any of us give a fuck. Put on good fights and nobody will care.

So what does this actually do?

Luke just hates Dana and Trump. He is pretty smart and has good takes on a lot of things, but when it comes to Dana and Trump the man is insufferable and loses credibility.

I get it. I dislike Luke so its fair to be biased.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act (MAABRA) is proposed U.S. legislation (H.R. 4624) to modernize and revitalize professional boxing by enhancing fighter safety, increasing pay, and establishing new, regulated “Unified Boxing Organizations” (UBOs) alongside traditional sanctioning bodies, aiming to boost the sport’s integrity, opportunity, and economic viability, with strong support from figures like Lonnie Ali. It builds on the original Ali Act by introducing clearer regulations, minimum pay ($150-$200/round), mandatory health coverage, and performance centers, while addressing exploitation and reviving premier events in the U.S..

It is insane how many opportunities boxing has squandered over the past 15 years or so.

Think back from the 2010s to present-day, and boxing in some form was on almost all the major networks and also premium cable, yet one by one they got canceled because of dogshit, greedy promoters and bad fights.

The SAUDIS and Jake Paul have generated more mainstream buzz for boxing post-COVID than anything these old guard promoters have done.

Boxing needs a shakeup.

In the past the Ali Act prevented any promotion from being a UFC. A self-contained promotion. It protected the sanctioning/Alphabet bodies. It gave them power to run boxing(which they have now lost).

The sanctioning bodies actually did a terrible job at running the sport. Why do you need four of them anyway? But they also always acted for short term self-interest, grubbily. Like having two belts per division, so they could get a % cut of the title fights. Stuff like that.

Boxing shrunk under their stewardship.

The new amendments take away their protections. The field is open for UFC, or anyone else, to create a ‘UBO’. A UBO is like a UFC, or Pride, or Strikeforce. A self-contained, branded, promotion, who can give their own belts.

So that is what is going to happen. Jake Paul is talking of making a league (A UBO). TGB are too. Others will jump in over time. It could create a new situation like MMA was 2003-2012 where you have many leagues. For a few years anyway.

UFC, as Zuffa Boxing, are the first: And their first fight is on Friday.

Do you think this is good for the sport long term?

I like it.

Some people think it’s bad because of monopolization angle. Driving down fighter pay etc. I get that.

But from a fans pov boxing is in such a bad state, it needs fresh energy. A new approach.

I hope Dana dies
