Don Frye on Mark Kerr. Lol

Yes, in the rematch.

Tank’s best win IMO.

For sure.

So is Frye.

You think Enson and Valentijn were better than Vitor, Smith, Randleman, Rizzo, and Barnett?

Kerr won two 2
4-man tournaments, with Bobish being his best win.

Frye won two 8 man tournaments with wins over guys like Goodridge, Johnston, and Tank.

“Later” doesn’t make it better in this case.

You don’t think Fry could hurt Enson on the feet then bust him up on the ground for a finish?

Igor was swinging very wildly vs Enson.

I’m not saying Frye is better than Igor. But Enson wants a fight with Frye on the ground ASAP IMO.

I think Frye is a little more dangerous than you’re giving him credit for.

I will say Enson matches you better with Frye than Igor.

This is a wild take to me but I won’t derail lol

.

And you might be right, which is why my first comment on this thread would be that Kerr might be a bad matchup for Fry like Coleman.
On paper that’s what it is.
My follow up was more of looking at intangibles and realizing that Kerr wasn’t really the world-beater some seem to believe.

Our bigger disagreement here is probably Enson vs Frye lol.

Don Frye needing a drink and slurping water out of that dirty barrel is more manly than Kerr’s entire fight career of laying and praying.

Threads like this really make me miss that era of MMA.

Early UFC and Pride was like the original Roadhouse and Point Break.

Current UFC is like the remakes lol.

There’s a lot of time between those groups. Rizzo was the only guy in the UFC when Randy vacated. And yeah I think Enson and Valetijn beat Pedro and Mo, pretty easily.

Randleman and Barnett were a few years away from UFC debuts when Randy lost to Enson.

I think 2002 Randy beats those guys, but in 1998, the best fighters by far were in Japan. The ring didn’t have anything to do with it. Randy was the best of the UFC, but far from the best HW. He would be eventually, but not then.

Johnston got mauled by Bobish, and he might be the best out of those 3. Both of those tournaments had a bunch of guys there to lose to them. Tank is the best of Fryes UFC wins.

Enson taps frye much more easily than Yoshida did. The Enson that fought Frank…that guy beats Frye however he wants to.

Pedro back then would’ve likely put Enson out cold. Enson’s greatest attribute was his heart. But your heart can’t overcome the off switch.

Yuuup. Completely underrated off his back IMO.

For a guy that came into the sport with zero grappling back ground, he ended up having a very classic, very tough to take advantage of guard.

And was incredibly scary from the top position. Almost under rated from there as well I feel. Guy was like trying to control a lead fire hydrant with limbs. Vov’ would just snatch his limbs and shrug out of over hooks and wrist control and club you with a sledge hammer.

Like some of those hammer fist thought out his career were disgustingly hard lol. You could “feel” them through the fucking canvas. Just a dull thud you knew just scrambled the meat in someone’s skull.

The beating he put on Enson was hard to watch at the time. And even worse when you look back knowing the extent of Ensons injuries lol.

Kerr would’ve smashed Frye

I don’t think Enson was that good. He is from Hawaii and loved here but I don’t consider his an A tier fighter for the time

Unpopular opinion. But I agree completely. Tough as they come. But not one of the more well-rounded or highest level in one area.

Whilst I think Kerr vs Frye prob looks like Coleman v Frye 1… this comment is a wild take IMO
