In both matches lol.
Frye was getting lit up pretty good before he subbed Tank.

Depends on what era you’re talking about I guess. For <= 2000, he’s a tier. After that, probably not.
Frank was the best 205er in the world. Enson was clearly on his level. That was an incredibly close epic. Frank won the ufc title in his next fight. He fought the best lhw in the world and the beast hw in the world in back to back fights. One is an epic all time great back and forth fight, one he wins pretty easily. Hard for me to see how he’s not a tier in that era.
Pre 04 he has one loss to someone who didn’t fight for a UFC or Pride title. That was Estes in a fight where he avenged a split decision loss with a violent tko.
The movie that should have been made is “The Predator” staring John Cena.
I like Don, but he’s never won a single fight longer than 10 minutes outside of the Shamrock fight. He breaks before Kerr in my opinion.

Gary Goodridge second fight

Going off memory, I remembered it at 9 and change. My bad. Hall was technically over 10 too, the one where hall tried to win.
The thing I dont get is what did Kerr do to have a movie made about his life? The most drama hes known for is being in a shitty relationship and getting hooked on drugs. He won a couple fights but look at the size he was. Of course he could win a couple. And he got blasted by Fujita of all people. I have no desire to watch the rock put on his faggy accent in speedo shorts. I have nothing against Kerr but Coleman wouldve been a way better movie.

FRAT WARNING!
Couture’s Randleman win, Valentijn loss, and both Rizzo wins are all within 1 year of each other.
Wow… easily?
Who is Valentine’s best win around that time?
Tamura? Didn’t they split? That’s a solid win, but Val didn’t exactly shake up the world.
And I don’t know that Enson beats Rizzo.
I really like Enson, but Couture is his best win of that time by far.
Rizzo’s resume around that time period is significantly better than Enson’s. White, Tank, Coleman, Telligman, TK, Severn, Barnett. His only loss prior to '01 is a decision to Randleman.
That’s a 5 year stretch of very solid wins that Enson just doesn’t compete with.
You seem to be propping up 2 Enson fights to prove his skill. A win over Couture and a competitive loss to Frank.
That Enson/Frank fight is indeed one of my favorites of that era. It’s a visual example of MMA at that time IMO. And Frank – being a very dynamic fighter – could make guys look good or bad.
Maybe you’re think Enson would submit Rizzo? Because exchanging with Frank Shamrock on the feet is not the same as exchanging with Rizzo.
But to say Enson beats Rizzo “easily”?
I just don’t see it.
It’s a surprising take IMO.
Well then when do you think Randy was the best HW?
It couldn’t be 2002 when he lost to Barnett and Ricco before stepping down to LHW.
So it must be 2001 when he beat Rizzo twice?
So he wasn’t the best when he got subbed by guys in Japan, but beating Rizzo twice made him the best again?
I’m not following your logic.
I think where we disagree here, is on the significance of the ring.
From '97 - '01, Couture has 3 losses, all by submission, and all in a ring.
I don’t think he was as comfortable in that environment, and his style of pressuring guys against the cage has something to do with it.
And I’m not necessarily saying he beats all 3 of those guys in a cage at that time. I don’t know. But I’ll bet he doesn’t lose to all 3.
I certainly think the ring had something to do with it – not that it should be an excuse.
The truth about Couture is that he was never really a world beater. He had great and memorable performances, managed to evolve with the sport as much as anyone, and aged better than most. But he never had an extended run of dominance.
And the Couture win is kind of the outlier in Enson’s career. Every other time he lost to bigger names – although he was obviously game.
Sure but I don’t think you can argue that Kerr’s UFC resume at the time is better then Fry’s.
Frye was 10-1 in the UFC and Kerr was 4-0.
Tank was a killer and a 2 time finalist. Bitetti was a legit grappler. And say what you want about Goodridge, he was no pushover.
That doesn’t mean Frye matches up well with Kerr. If the Coleman fight is an example he probably doesn’t. But we’ve been over that.
I don’t know about this.
If they fought several times I’m sure that would be one of the outcomes.
But Frye would be a very dangerous fight for Enson.
It’s an interesting matchup.
I’m happy Kerr got this opportunity and I hope he profits very well from it.
I really hope it opens up more movies about MMA pioneers.
A Ken Shamrock movie – if done right – would be a rollercoaster.
His life makes Kerr’s story seem uneventful lol.
And I mean no disrespect to Kerr in saying that. Ken’s story is just insane.
Quit gargling Ken’s balls
I love Don but Kerr would have beat the holy shit out of him
Nobody is breaking Don Frye’s spirit. Mentally Frye is infinitely stronger than Kerr.
This has been an ongoing topic across many threads for a long time and I’m not the only one with that opinion.
You used to be cool – but right now you can fuck off with your comments every time I mention Ken.
I’ve been having these conversations for 20 years here, so who the fuck are you?

I can remember thinking wow the game has just shifted with those two. Could not see the game as the same immediately after. Spose a lot of that was just the era and natural course of things but it sure felt like a helluva jump to me
you shoulda went with more urban “who the fuck IS you” tbh
I been watching Ken since UFC 1 on PPV at a buddies house during a drinking party. Most overrated fighter ever. His biggest legit win was against a pure wrestler in Severn that didn’t even know how to defend a standing guillotine choke. Dude has probably been in more worked fights than any figher in MMA history.
