Chuck Liddell for me. When he was on top i was always rooting against him. After Rampage beat him I became a fan.
Anderson Silva. Wanted him to lose SO badly when he was on top for so long. But what made me a fan wasn’t actually when he lost, but when he showed vulnerability and still found a way to win. Chael absolutely dominated him in a way that would have broken most fighters spirit. He showed himself to be a warriar and found a way to win. Even the desperate look on his face as he pulled off the sub, I still get chills thinking about that moment.
So just as i became fans of those guys, they basically stopped winning.
I don’t know that I’ve ever hated a fighter until they lost. I don’t hate many fighters, but they usually stay on the shit list if they happen to get there.
Everyone says this but he was still spitting at corner men and being a generally unlikable dude years after that fight imo.
I think it was more around the time when Vitor kicked his eye out that he started growing on me.
I also don’t know if he would have been as hated as he was without the fans he had lol. I think those early losses changed their behavior more than Bisping himself.
faber until he broke both his hands and threw everything else like a savage, i think against mike brown?, i also met him right around that time and he was so cool.
i think his positivity and success just bugged me.
I woke up with the shits and when i went back to bed i had a dream that a no name skinny white guy guillotined jones for his second, less destructive loss.
