What did I write that was wrong? I’m not against wrestling, but you have to admit that it would be much harder for them with PRIDE rules. Just eliminating corners alone significantly hurts any striker.
He’s half black so he couldn’t help being a raper
Not wearing shoes almost eliminates the easiest TD to get in MMA environment… low singles are almost impossible to get without a shoe to grab…
No American wrestler has any techniques inherent to them for TDs against a cage… it is much easier to defend leg based attacks against a cage…
You can still throw knees to a grounded opponent… Fukn Gaethje basically ended ilia with a knee to the body while ilia was down… just can’t knee to the head… if you can’t adjust off your sprawl that’s on you…
Elbows to the top of the head are 100% legal…
The only thing you got right was no 90^ corners does not help a striker…
Add in rounds hurt any kind of grappling…
Horrible stand ups hurt any kind of grappling…
And just the fact that grappling is discouraged and not rewarded in prize fighting…
Literally the first point I made was that this was the only rule that hurts them.
Knees to the head would be a thousand times worse for someone who failed a takedown than knees to the body.
I admittedly forgot that they fixed the elbow rules.
I have no clue how you think that grappling is discouraged- “cage control” is one of only the criteria considered for judging a round.
Your no shoes was right but for the wrong reason… admittedly that is a bit of an assumption on my part but based off everything else you wrote…
Yes, knees to the head would be, but, that is not what you said…
Cage control has nothing to do with American based wrestling… Greco and clinch based attacks yes, but, that isn’t the wrestling you all hate…
Whatever…
I’m going to bet against him for the fuck of it.
The simple fact of the matter is what typical folk wrestling has turned into in the last 15 years does not lend itself to TDs in MMA, so, the average American wrestler does not have the overwhelming advantage that they did 20 years ago…
The American wrestlers who can hand fight and finish shots cleanly are able to make a living wrestling now and are not forced into MMA now…
Those two things are the absolute biggest reason American wrestlers are not represented in MMA like they once were…
Fukn hell…
We failed to mention the rule change that took away top heavy wrestling based style biggest weapon…
No head butts
How simple it was to destroy a nose or mouth and inflict easy cuts with a simple and effective head butt…
Also true
But generally wrestlers are viewed as the boring ones
Yeah but I don’t even think we need headbutts, just add knees to the head of grounded opponents.
Not having head butts is equally as silly as not having knees to the head…
Logically you can’t call for one without totally accepting the other…
Oh I would accept both willingly but I’m just saying in modern MMA the one thing that would be more likely to come back is the knees.
There is no organization in America that will bring headbutts back.
No one is going to bring back knees to the head either so the entire “make a wish” is moot…
Unlikely but knees would have the highest probability. Then this whole discussion is moot lol
Let’s see what Scott Coker does next year
Coker would not get sanctioned making some arbitrary rule set and Coker is not an idiot…
MMA “fans” will just have to hope and pray that only a few actual really good wrestlers decide they want to fight while still in their athletic prime…
Hokit is pretty quick for his size - he is no Randelman though that’s for sure. His striking and cardio are much better than Kevin’s ever were
Doesn’t have near the power and he’s fighting c and d level guys in the worst heavyweight division ever in history
I think Hokit is much more athletic than what he has shown, but I don’t think he will need it in today’s heavyweight division.
