At this point I can’t say I 100% believe he did something with his gloves. But I will say for sure he fucked up Ilia’s orbitals and it seems like hitting him in the eye with his thumb was on purpose, multiple times.
I used to love Justin as a lovable retard that fights all out. But it seems clear he is a dirty fighter with all the eye pokes. And I definitely wouldnt put it past him to pull a Margarito if the glove isnt being inspected. Although I wont say I believe it, I do believe its possible for sure.

The fact that there was no athletic commission for this sounded alarm bells for me.
I remember Cotto Margarito 1 and was shocked at how his face looked considering Margarito wasn’t known for his power.
Of course in the rematch when he was forced to have normal gloves his amazing power from the first fight was sadly lacking.
If you were to load UFC gloves that is exactly how I would expect Ilia’s face to look.
With normal gloves I don’t think the fight would have gone the way it did because Topuria would not have had any broken orbitals.
Look at Pimblett after Justin hit him with 53 more significant strikes than he did against Ilia.
Big difference right and no broken bones either.

Also Holloway’s face after Gaejthe landed 12 more signifcant strikes on him than Topuria.

Makes a lot of sense. And Justin a serial eye poker is definitely the type of guy who would do that and then brag about his power.
He said in his interview with Rogan Ilia would be talking mad shit now if he had won. I could definitely see him justifying it in his head. Not sure if Ilia will ever be the same after that beating though.

Those photos are enhanced to make the damage look worse than they were in the actual fight photos.
Topuria being smaller isn’t an excuse in my view I’ve seen many smaller fighters step up over the decades and fight known hard hitters in Combat sports.
There was something very off about this fight when I was watching it and it definitely reminded me of Cotto and Margarito 1.
If there was an Athletic commission for this card I might be less suspicious.
Doubt you would be saying this if it was an American fighter on the wrong end of this with a French fighter doing the damage.

Yeah I’m almost wondering why I’m even trying to argue with this dumb shit again. It’s seriously like reading comments from on reddit from people who have never watched a fight, specifically a Justin fight or a Max fight. Max has always been a master at rolling with punches. He just rarely gets hit clean and when he does is usually bad and he gets KOd.
Every fucking shot Illia took was straight on. He didn’t roll with shit. Actually he was walking into the damn shots.

Him being smaller def played a part but the biggest factor was him walking straight into every single shot Justin threw. No rolling.
And you need to go back and look at those fighters faces one by one as soon as the final round ended. Not after they were cleaned up like the pic you posted of Paddy. He was a damn mess when the bell rang at the end. That pic you posted is after he was cleaned up, had some ice on him to help swelling.

Something felt very off about that fight and I was rooting for Justin to win.

If Topuria was bigger they would use the excuse that he didn’t roll with the punches despite the fact Justin has connected flush with many fighters much more in the early rounds and their faces looked nothing like Ilia’s.
It’s a losing battle for sure but the more discerning and objective minded will at least ponder the anomolies.

I suggest you go back and watch all of Justin’s UFC fights in slow motion and you might notice that when he connected flush much more often against other opponents in the early rounds they looked nothing like Ilia did.
I think there is a reason for that.

This. As I said it’s within the realm of possibility if indeed no commission was checking gloves etc.
But he did also land flush on Ilia a fuck ton of times, partly because of the reach/size difference, partly because he basically took out Ilia’s eyes, which was the original premise of the thread.
