Eddie Bravo shares the evolution of his revolutionary no-gi jiu-jitsu system and the development of Combat Jiu-Jitsu as a bridge between sport grappling and MMA. He discusses his journey from questioning traditional gi training to creating innovative formats that keep jiu-jitsu connected to its fighting roots. Check out his next EBI event on September 12th in San Antonio, the day before UFC. It’ll feature Keith Krikorian, Max Hansen, Gianni Grippo, and even UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell!

Dude was crying about being “crippled” literally 20 years ago. Biggest pussy ass drama queen ever when it actually comes to doing jiu jitsu outside of his warmup routine.

Masters 5 is full of game competitors who roll and compete on the reg.

A lot of us predicted this from the beginning. I liked Eddie’s creativity, but that system wreaked havoc on knees and backs. All the old guys still training today had very simple games that worked with the body, not manipulating it.

Does anyone get out of Jujitsu alive?

I remember one time Eddie was on Rogan they were both glazing BJJ about how it’s so perfect for the average person to do and how it wasn’t hard on the body like Judo. Then like a few months later they were both talking about how much their bodies were breaking down and what surgeries they were going to have lol

Bravo always had the opinion that BJJ being designed for old and/or unfit guys to do was weird in comparison to other competitive combat sports that are generally a young mans game. He used to say no one gets into kickboxing and refuses to stretch and improve flexibility for their kicking. He’s 55yr old now so he’s 20yrs past the point of being able to squeeze into anyone definition of being a young guy.

Separately from age related issues, rubber guard itself and a good amount of the high flexibility game that comes along with it seems to have fallen out of favour just because the no gi sport has nullified and evolved past it.

Eddie back in the gi? I’ll take it

I’m 30 years in.

Too stupid to quit, I guess

It was a joke about the seamlessly edited gif… like I sat there and watched it for a few thousand reps. Never mind.

Everyone’s body will break down, Eddie I don’t think competed a lot, I mean ADCC trials, ADCC and beat Royler as a brown belt, then competed a couple times after that as a black belt, one of those matches against Royler. So it seems like a lot of wear and tear in the lab training and gym wars.

That’s because their guard didn’t have their ankle on the other guy’s head lol.
