I am not a fan of wrist locks, especially faggy ones like this

Could happen if you didn’t take the fag seriously and you just grabbed casually like people do thousands of times

Move is used a lot in the art of professional wrestling. I feel not many grapplers are proficient in this maneuver as most try to execute it at the beginning of the match during an exchange of holds and more often than not the opponent does not tap out or verbally submit, even if the ref can see him writhing in pain and asks him, “are you okay? Do you want to submit?”

Noteable combatants known for this hold: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Lord Steven Regal (Pictured)

Purple belt and above? Absolutely

They are an important aspect especially in the gi.

If you need to use your hands you shouldn’t be in the gi anyway lol

Be funny to beat a black belt with that shit move, just wrap your lapel and start gator rolling till the hand pops

I like it. The game is supposed to be submission isn’t it? If you can take an ankle why not wrist? Can you break toes and fingers in bjj?

I like bastard moves like Mother’s Milk and the Gas Mask.

Worm guard is just as it implies tho, it’s a form of guard for control.

This form of wrist lock is far worse than a normally hand applied wrist lock to me (which I am fine with when done in a controlled manner).

  1. It relies on the total dynamic twisting of the body, there is no way to apply the submission in a controlled manner. Even if your opponent taps your back is likely to them and in mid twist, so the chance of injuring your opponent is exceedingly high. This is not UFC / ADCC / IBJJF Worlds, it’s some local purple belts.

  2. If you don’t actually have your hands / body on the joint you are manipulating for the submission, you can’t truly feel the pressure being applied. So back to the needless injury risk, and that is cheap AF.

  3. The mechanism and force used for this submission gives zero time for someone to tap, and essentially you are TKO’ing someone and not submitting them. I look at this like ripping Mir locks / heel hooks / etc. Fine for the highest of level professionals, but this type of thing in smaller tournaments, especially at purple belt level, is bullshit.

I don’t have a problem with anything, if it is within teh rules!

Personally I would never train an art where you have a man between my legs whilst being on my back!

I guess you spend all your time at work in that position I can see why you wouldn’t want to do it as a hobby.
