I don’t remember that one but the Cro Cop vs Yoshida fight obviously had some type of arangement. When CC leg kicks Yoshida and he falls to the ground, Cro Cop has this “oh shit” look on his face that he hit him too hard. Instead of just standing there waiting for Yoshida to get back up, CC immediately dives into his guard and covers up. There was obviously some agreement or paid incentive to have a certain amount of ground work in the fight.

So who was ricksons toughest opponent?
Did he beat anyone that should have been a tough matchup in MMA?
That means they are not real fights.
In a real fight, both opponents are actually trying to win.
I just rewatched the fight on youtube. It doesn’t really look like a work to me. Didn’t Rickson always take his time like that? At one point, Takada goes for a pretty vicious knee. Regardless, Rickson embarrassed him pretty badly as soon as they tied up. Seems like a pointless work. I keep thinking Kerr is getting it confused with a different fight.

Also, from what I understand the winner may have no idea it’s a work.
Funny how you can have someone with a huge ego because they win every fight only it turns out all their opponents were told to lose.
If it was a work then likely only Takada knew

Compared to what? That tournament was only a year or two after the first UFC. That was the infancy of modern MMA.

Kerr is a tank, but he doesn’t have the “too dumb to lose” thing a lot of fighters do. Too introspective. Too inside of his own head. The kind of guy who will never comeback or win a fight he’s not supposed to win, but will frequently lose to people he should have beaten.
No shade to Kerr. He seems like an awesome human. Some people just don’t have the mental tools it takes to win those fights.

The first UFC’s were on a whole other level of competition compared to that garbage.
