MMA History Podcast(TM) John Perretti (UPDATED)

Agree I like Peretti but he can be frustrating in these interviews as he can be all over the place at times .. he has a ton of great stories about old school mma but but he only gives halfassed answers to many questions

He’s purposefully trying to be a dickhead on this podcast

Yeah thought he broke his hand or something like that

John was just busting some balls on that podcast

Peretti interview was entertaining as always

What is the deal with Jon Lober? Peretti calls him a ‘complete psychopath’ every time he’s on the podcast but never elaborates - so who knows about this? I do remember he used to take meth addicts and pay them a bit to beat them up in his garage/gym but beyond that I know nothing

Lober did an episode of the podcast I believe

I gathered he was somebody you don’t wanna F with, ever. That is probably what Peretti is getting at.

Also, Laverne Clark, a pretty talented sprawl and brawl type fighter - they said he got his foot ran over by a lawnmower before the Iha fight - How does that happen?! lol

They said he lost a toe.. which if it his big toe; his balance would be shit.

To this day, no one will break bad on Lober

Not a single person has enough balls to talk shit about the guy

Lober, is a dangerous mother fucker that will 100% show up at your house asking you to repeat what you said about him online

Speaking of old heads- Matt Furey once harassed me about publishing his instructionals on my community college HTML project of listing what MMA DVDs I had for trade. I lived in Northern California at the time.

Now, I live on the opposite coast about 5 to 10 minutes from Matt Furey and he doesn’t know.

I like Perretti. He seems like a one-of-a-kind sort of guy that is a bit prickly at times and actually enjoys talking to Mike and Joey (those clowns).

Same thing happened to Joe Frazier actually.

Just hit 'em from behind - J. Perretti

Check out some Perretti ground work from the late 80s (so the video description says).

The video should start at the right part. If not, it’s at 48mins 20secs.

Wonder how often he was able to pull that off in an avtual
Fight ? lol

Good find though

Well we certainly want to keep it that way.

Entertaining and enlightening as always. How about a Matt Hume episode?
