Yeah I can understand that. I can see now why you guys didn’t push too hard on the Shamrock 1 & 2 fights. When he did the interview a few years back with Hannibal TV and was asked about the Ken Shamrock fights he replied “That name brings me pain”. He talked about fighting Ken, but it’s obvious those fights were hard for Kimo to move past. I don’t think he has a lot of love for Ken either.
The interview was fantastic! Very interesting his relationship with Matt Hume and how it ended. Hume is brilliant, but also a different kind of personality. Then again, so is Kimo. Bummer how it ended after the first Shamrock fight. I really feel like Eddy Millis was a perfect fit for Kimo. Love the Joe Son stories. Kimo always defends his toughness. He seems like the type of guy that had street savvy and an ability to hustle people while maybe also being a tough street fighter at one time? It certainly did not translate to his professional fights, but Kimo seemed to believe in him as a fighter. His loss to Joe Moreira listed as Submission (Terror) on Sherdog is fantastic! 
Kimo truly is a legend. His aura really set him apart, but he was also very tough and had the goods to back it all up. He has some great wins on his record. The man has a submission victory over Sakuraba! I would love to have seen his scheduled fight with Bas Rutten in 2006 come to fruition. Much respect to Kimo!

IIRC Kimo didn’t really have any beef with Ken but thought the stoppage in the second fight was early.
That would have been interesting.

You guys have really found a unique style as well as a great “good cop/bad cop” approach in interviews to really help smooth over some awkward answers or silences, but also be able to draw out answers to questions that might not have been given.

It was interesting Kimo said the 2nd Pat Smith fight on his record never happened. It makes you wonder if it’s his memory being hazy for something so long ago or are all the multiple fight finders wrong that have it listed.
If that’s true it also makes you think what other old fights on some of these databases are inaccurate if Kimo is right on this one.

I thought I got lucky and found it but turns out this video posted on Facebook is just mislabelled dammit!!
It’s titled the Kimo vs Pat Smith fight from UFCF but is actually their K-1 fight. Still a nice piece of history but the search for answers continues lol
I was actually thinking this right before I read this comment… dude is the mots serious guy ever. I saw him smile once in my life. I sat in front of him at the first K1 las vegas show at the bellagio and he was insanely intense!
I talked with Kimo quickly recently, but just about Japan concerning Sakuraba, Takayama, and Anjo. I’ll post a transcript soon.

That’s a bold statement.
Coleman/Takada was an obvious work, partly because it had an obvious “winner”.
It’s been a while since I watched Kimo/Severn. And I’m not particularly interested in watching it again.
But I myself am cautious about being overly confident in declaring “works”.
