Fred Floyd was like Paul Varelans but more athletic. I think had he trained more - he could have been a solid old school mma fighter
Richard ‘red’ heard was another old school beast but he like completely disappeared after the fight with Rizzo

Different personality probably isn’t the best way to put it. Maybe interesting training methodology is more accurate? Kimo talks about how he felt that Hume only showed him certain ankle lock variations but didn’t get into knee bars and other leg lock set ups in his training for Shamrock. Kimo didn’t seem too happy with how Hume game planned for that fight then the socializing with Ken after the fight seemed to be off-putting ending their training relationship. His time with Kimo was also early in his coaching career. I also recall Monte Cox discussing Rich Franklins initial thoughts on Matt Hume. Apparently in early sessions together Rich really didn’t understand what made Hume special as a coach. What he was choosing to focus on, what he was asking Rich to do, etc. but it eventually all clicked especially after an all out roll together.
I’m just speculating so who knows. Fighters and coaches have issues and split all the time for all kinds of reasons. I’m a huge Matt Hume fan and he is without a doubt one of the greatest coaches the sport has ever seen. I always felt Eddy Millis was a great coach for Kimo. It’s about finding that right fit.
