NBA, NHL, NFL enforcer fight, who wins in MMA

In a bar room brawl I’d favor a Hockey enforcer, but what about MMA? You take the best enforcer from each sport, who would win?

Personally I’d pick the basketball player. They seem to tradition best to MMA. They are long and can learn to generate good striking. They are sort of built for striking. The Hockey players are more durable but in MMA rules I think they get picked apart.

Football players seem to gas but they are super fast and explosive when fresh.

Basketball players are a bit softer now than they were in the past. Though he never made the nba Jamal Hill was the UFC Light Heavyweight champion weight champ. I don’t know of and former football or Hockey players that became UFC champs.

I’d take a young Steve Adams against a similarly trained NHL fighter

Good point. Did they play college on scholarship at least?

Here is the UFC HW champ scoring on the former defensive player of the year

To be fair most of the tough guys played high school football.

Hokit almost made the nfl

I would go NHL since thy actually fight so they know how to take and throw a punch. Not to mention the balance and control of their body they have.

The NFL player.

Though maybe no champions who didn’t also have combat backgrounds, there have been some decent football players turned fighters. Mitrione, Schaub, OSP, Anders, early Bob Sapp, etc.

Though ex-soccer players have actually made the most elite crossovers (Aldo, Ngannou, Gane, etc.)

In a bar room fight they are deadly. They will cause a lot of damage fast and eat a lot of punishment.

In an MMA fight I don’t know that this translates as well. I can see the basketball guy using foot work and picking him apart

For soccer players I think you have to count guys that made it to club level soccer. I’m sure Anderson Silva played soccer at one point, but he isn’t a soccer player

Prime vs prime I’d put Chara against him any day of the week with similar training.

You seem to be working off the premise that the basketball player is going to be trained to have the footwork and movement necessary to win this fight but that the hockey player wouldn’t?

Basketball guys flop. They also get in fights, but no one has any damage. No power. I also think you underestimate how nimble hockey players are. Hip movement is one of their main focuses.

I am going by body type and what these athletes excel in. Basketball players are long, well conditioned, and usually have coordination and dexterity. Football players are very powerful and explosive. They are picked for short bursts usually as football plays aren’t long.

Hockey players are a cross between the two. They are skating back and forth for minutes on end with little rest and can fight when needed

Basketball players don’t fight as often as NHL guys. Still they are very long and lean which would favor them in striking. I don’t know of any high level hockey players that fought MMA.
