Not really… His first two tournaments he actually showed up in solid condition with good cardio, especially his first tournament. If not for facing Oleg Taktarov in the finals of UFC 6 and drawing Dan Severn in his second showing, he probably would have won at least one of those. At UFC 6 both he and Taktarov were exhausted by the end of the fight and Taktarov had to be carried out of the cage.
It’s worth mentioning that Tank has said he tried to get into the UFC after he saw the third event, but that the Gracie’s kept him out. I dunno if that’s completely true, but Art Davie did confirm they used their influence in the promotion to limit fighters with amateur wrestling backgrounds from the early events.

I would expect Royce to win, But I wouldn’t Gilbert the farm on it. Tank might be whipping Royce around by the Gi fo a while. One jackhammer and Royce is losing GJJ quick. 2 or 3 grazing punches and he’s a white belt.

As I recall, Tank was making fun of “toe twisters” before the fight, and Mir caught him in a toe hold.

I think that would have been a very very tough fight for Royce honestly. I mean shit, look at the Kimo fight. He’s not putting Tank up against the fence like that. And he sure as fuck isnt giving up his back and not getting the back of his head power punched lol.
I wouldn’t wanna bet on that fight either way, if I was gambling with my own money lol.
