Real Judo is Terrifying

I don’t doubt that anyone with a grappling background couldn’t pull off a throw on the average idiot out there. Maybe in an instant it’s the right move, It just wouldnt be my go to.

I did train judo in my 20s and was tossed around like a ragdoll. It did help me a lot with my breakfalls.

One time I got Ogoshi’d by a huge star CFL lineman where he finished off the throw by landing all of his 280 lbs. or whatever he was on me as well. I almost quit on the spot right after that lol.

The good thing with training both Judo and BJJ back then is that when you’re at BJJ class, you want to show off your Judo skills and when you’re at Judo class, you want to highlight your BJJ skills

scrubs and judo in thread RIP Quincey

My favorite attacks.

Im going to go practice those on some nerds like this guy!

Having used tai-toshi in more than a couple street fights in my younger days, the reality is you hit them quicker than your opponents can react when they’ve never seen them before. Turning your back isn’t even a concern…

The risk is in direct proportion to the person’s skill.

Trust me its more risky for me to throw a jab then an uchimata.

Same as most bjj competition black belts could pull guard with little risk.

Great judo is truly awesome but whats sad is there are not a lot of great judo schools in the US.

I’m trying to find one of a cop in the UK foot sweeping some unruly hooligan-type, but can’t find it.

29 years of Judo and a big fan of the sport.
Spent about 20 years doing mainly seonage, firemen carry and pick ups. They changed up the rules. We switched thi gs up and now we do a ton of uchimata, osoto gari, ouchi, harai… and my favorite the sticker

If anyone has judo questions or needs to find i good school I can help. Its definitely worth getting good at.

Thanks!

Fair enough.

I trained judo pretty intensely for a year and half, loved it. It was nice going back to being a white belt after years of grappling.

A ton of fun but I popped my knee bad while being thrown and was out for 6 months. I never went back to judo and stuck with MMA/BJJ.

That particular judo school had a couple cops. They said judo was super useful for them because they get into the upright clinch a lot with people which is judo’s wheelhouse. One of the cops said it saved his life.
