Real Judo is Terrifying

I did not expect Ishii to have a European accent

Military hapkido is 10x scarier

A friend of mine hit me with a tomoe nage and I landed on my heels. The pain in my heels was like getting hit in the balls. I was moaning and groaning in pain and me mate was terrified that he broke my back. When I told him my back was fine and it was my heels, he was visibly relieved and told me to stop with the whining.

Who is the best judoka that has fought in mma? They really didn’t do that well

Fedor was a 2 time Russian Judo Nationals medalist. He was great at transitioning from throwing punches to clinching and using his judo to take people down.

Akiyama threw the shit out of people including ragdolling Jake Shields and Hector Lombard.

Mousasi was a Dutch youth judo national champ. He was always tripping dudes from the clinch.

This… 100% this!

That’s like saying “boxing paired with punches". Submissions are part of Judo.

I’d also be afraid of the potential manslaughter charge.

Ronda, Fedor, Karo, Yoshida.

They did alright.

Judo works really well with clothes. I still a recall a judo dude that pushed me not that hard and as I resisted and thus pushed back he grabbed my clothes and threw me overhand like I was a feather. I still don’t understand how the landing didn’t hurt ha ha. We were jhust playfighitng, yet I felt the skills.

In MMA, it’s a tad more tough as there are no clothes to grab on too, and with many of the throws you don’t land in optimal positions for coontrol or subs.

Fedor used a mix of grappling styles and plus he was a very good mma striker so he doesn’t count

Ronda and Kayla are two I did not think of before - they definitely count

I had forgotten about Karo as well - he’s in

I forgot about Kayla Harrison, probably because I haven’t seen any of her fights. Add Rick Hawn into the mix as well. Yoshida didn’t do too bad in Pride either as a pure Judoka.

Every judo person named in this thread had a full crazy competitive judo career then got into mma…maybe not Fedor but his judo was far from great..compared to other great judo competitors.

Its not gonna happen but if super star judo players from Japan, Russia, Korea, etc transferred to mma at an early age they would be fine and a few would get belts.. problem is the best and even the 2nd tier competitive judo players have little interest in mma.

Dan Henderson used a mix of grappling styles and plus be was a very good MMA striker so he doesn’t count as a wrestler doing well in MMA.

Stupid argument.
