I’ll start the discussion with Shane Carwin. Dude is an engineer. Graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, which is a smart AF kid school. I believe he works as an engineer today. He definitely has an engineering degree and worked as an engineer while fighting if I recall correctly.
So, who else in MMA is actually a smart, educated person?
You are misstaking education for intelligence. Why not ask who has the highest levels of education? For instance I didn’t graduate college and Im smarter than everyone I know.
You think GSP couldn’t waste his time in college classes and learn engineering? He was smart enough to become the best wrestler in mma without ever wrestling in school. Now that’s pretty fuckin smart!
No, Chuck Liddell wasn’t a practicing CPA, but he did graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting from Cal Poly in 1995, choosing the path of an MMA fighter over accounting, though he has the education to have pursued it. He’s often cited as a surprising example of a famous person with an accounting background.
I was surprised when I learned he was an accounting major and checked. The CPA wasn’t an easy exam to pass back then. It’s a lot easier today, but it’s still pretty tough and requires more education than it used to.
That right hand he floored Mezger with was the shit. I had that fight in a Pride VHS that I bought. It was the only good figjt on the card if I remember right. I think it mightve had Big Daddy Goodridge on it too but I had a bunch of fights back then.
