Josh Thomson isnât taking Nate Diazâs insults lying down.
Diaz recently made an appearance on the This Past Weekend podcast, where he took aim at a number of well-known MMA personalities, including retired UFC stars Daniel Cormier and Dustin Poirier. Thomson also caught a stray, with Diaz questioning the legitimacy of his 2013 technical knockout loss to Thomson, prompting âThe Punkâ to issue a response on his YouTube channel.
âYou were, âOh well, you ran like a b*tch,ââ Thomson said. âBro, you were making girl noises against the fence, like you said I was. You were making girl noises when I kneed you in the guts against the fence. I was touching your uterus with my knees. Every time I elbowed you in the face you were making noises, âUh! Uh!â Letâs not pretend. You guys can all turn up the volume if you guys watch the fight back.
âYou didnât know what to do then. You donât know what to do now. You donât want to fight me now, which is cool. But Iâll beat you, even now, whether itâs boxingâI even asked you because I heard you got offered all this money to fight in bare-knuckle and thatâs the one thing I really wanted to do. Show me youâre a west coast gangster. You and I can do bare-knuckle.â
Thomson, 47, claims a second fight between he and Diaz has been discussed from time to time in the decade-plus since they stepped into the octagon, and that there was renewed interest with when Diaz was in negotiations to fight on the upcoming MVP MMA card on May 16 headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. According to Thomson, he has previously offered to rematch Diaz, face him in a boxing match instead, or even to take on Diazâs friend Chris Avila, but all those suggestions were shot down.
Diaz is set to fight BKFC star Mike Perry at the May event, which Thomson has no issue with as he sees Perry as having a bigger name than him. However, Thomson wonât stand for Diaz accusing him of not wanting to settle the score.
âJust tell it like it is,â Thomson said. âYou donât want to fight, thatâs cool. Thatâs cool. But it doesnât matter whether itâs you, I thought because there was something there maybe youâd want to get it back. Maybe you had a little pride like âDCâ was saying, have a little pride in what youâre doing, you want to get that W back.
âEven after the fight, his brother [Nick Diaz] came up to meâyou guys watch the videoâinside the cage, his brother comes up to me and pats me on the belly, âGreat fight, man. Great fight,ââ Thomson added. âHis brother just recently talked about him, that I TKOâd him and the fight should have been stopped. âHeâs my brother, I donât want to see him take anymore damage.â Your brother out there saving your life. No matter how muchâWe all have respect for you, man, but at least give some of us some credit.â
During his This Past Weekend appearance, Diaz also mocked Thomson wanting another fight, questioning why Thomson would want a rematch against someone he already beat and claiming he would never do the same. In response, Thomson pointed out that Diaz pursued a big money fight with Conor McGregor after handing McGregor his first defeat at UFC 196.
âLetâs talk real quick,â Thomson said. ââI never beat no one and then wanted a rematch.â Bro, you were begging Conor McGregor for a rematch. Youâre like, âYeah, weâll do it again. Yeah, weâll run it back.â Now I get it, Conorâs a way bigger money fight than I am, but donât say you didnât do that. You were begging. You were on your knees. You were sucking Conorâs d*ck trying to get that rematch. Donât pretend like you werenât. âIâll take it.â
âYou were begging for that fight to begin with anyways, in the beginning, you remember that? âThis mother*cker taking everything I ever wanted, everything I worked for.ââ
Most importantly for Thomson, he wants Diaz to acknowledge that he was knocked out, fair and squareâDiazâs brother Nick even threw a towel into the cage to halt the bout, though referee Mike Beltran was already in the process of stopping itâand he expects Perry to defeat Diaz the same way.
âBottom line is Iâm the only guy thatâs ever had a TKO win over him, no one else has,â Thomson said. âI think itâs going to come to an end when he fights Mike Perry. I think Mike Perryâs going to be able to finish him, and I think that whether itâs by cuts, somewhere in that line.â

josh didnt need to say anything more than âwatch the fightâ
u know, someone could ask dana to post the whole fight without the rogan/goldie track, we could hear the woman noises
Punk beats him again imho
Josh Thompson is an underrated fighter from that era.
He could hang and beat a lot of the best from any era at lightweight.
At no time would Nate beat him. Absolutely terrible match up for Diaz.
Edit to add:
Thomson is also a nor cal MMA legend.
San Jose > Stockton
Of all the people to talk shit about the guy that definitively stopped you shouldnât be the one
Thomson at his peak was right at the very top of the lw division no matter what org we are talking. Nate never really was. He got to a title shot and got whooped. No shame there but Josh was just a better fighter.
Nate should tell him âlets play big bank take little bankâ
gross
remember âmy god the ass on that ufc doctor!â ?
Not Tracey LeeWee
Iâve really come to despise Nate as the years have gone on. Heâs never been good at take his ass whippingâs like a man.
Imagine the blood of a Diaz bare knuckle
UFC, isnât the âultimate financial championshipâ, the f is for fighting
Nate has a few fights left at most, why would he waste it on a guy 75% (or more) of UFCs current viewership has never heard of?
Sure, but why trash talk the guy that beat you so bad your brother had to throw in the towel to get him to stop?
