UFC Has Made Almost ‘Every Fight that the Fans Wanted to See’

“I power slapped my wife at the club”

Dana White believes the UFC has made nearly every major fight than the fans wanted to see. Unfortunately, it seems that fight fans are in almost unanimous disagreement about that.

White, who seldom admits to any errors when it comes to running the UFC, made this bold claim during an appearance on WFAN Sports Radio this week, when he was asked if there are any fights he regrets not making.

Here’s how he answered:

“There’s probably been a few — I can’t remember off the top of my head,” White began. “What I’ve been very lucky about in my career is every fight that the fans wanted to see, we’ve pretty much made. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s about. My job is to make the fights the fans want to see and we do that pretty much every weekend.”

Dana White is asked if there’s any fight he regrets never making:

Fans don’t agree with UFC boss Dana White

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to disagree with this comment from White. Most drew attention to the UFC’s failure to book matchups like Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones, and most recently, Islam Makhachev vs. Ilia Topuria. Other examples mentioned included Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre, and Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal.

At the same time, the UFC deserves from credit for booking blockbusters like Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov, and of course, Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland. The latter fight headlines UFC 328 this weekend.

nuh

GSP vs Silva during their dominate runs.

GSP Silva, Silva Jones, Jones Rumble

“Almost”

The fighters still have to sign on the dotted line. I don’t think Jones really wanted to fight and was just pretending not to be retired. But Dana can’t just give them any amount of money they demand. That’s what collapsed the other fight organizations.

To be fair, GSP simply didn’t want that fight.

In more recent times, GSP vs Khabib.

IIRC, GSP was fine with cutting to 155, but Dana didn’t want a one and done by GSP making his dominant champion look bad.

Sometimes it’s deserved, but some people around here are just haters. The UFC consistently gives the best matchups possible. They let guys go up and down weights to make superfights, they go get guys from other countries, they have developed and entire feeder system and make it nearly required viewing, even as TUF gets nearly unwatchable.

They haven’t made EVER fight, we never saw Fedor, we never got Tony Khabib and many others, but they definitely try harder than any other sport. And don’t even start mentioning the WBC/WBA/WBO

Something tells me that “willtheskillet1” is embarrassed by this idiot.
