Remember before Tyson-Holyfield 2 Atlas predicted Tyson would bite Holyfield
I think the nicest way to describe Holyfield is âcraftyâ. Like Hopkins. Look at shape of his skull and always being clean shaved. The damage he did to Hasim Rahman was horrific.
Him and Vernon Forrest were part of the Atlanta head butting gang
Yep.
Said heâd try to find a way out of the fight.
Tyson looked legit mad at the headbutts though, and he looked good in the fight in general.
I still take Teddy with a grain of salt though.
Tyson showed mental discipline during his peak run, and IIRC I havenât heard Teddy give him that credit.
Itâs always the âmental-midgetâ narrative.
Itâs way more complicated than that IMO.
Granted, Teddy knows Tyson, so he certainly has insight. Also has an agenda IMO.
I agree with most, last sentence though I dunno about that.
Then again I am admittedly biased.
Yeah thatâs a stretch IMO.
Julian Jackson
I might be pushing it with that but young Ali was insanely good, he did run into some problems even back then.
Thatâs who I was talking about
I thought so. God power
Thatâs why Hopkins was so damn good.
Yep exactly thatâs why he stayed good for so long, whereas RJJ fell off because relying on being so much faster than youâle opponents stops working before any other advantage
My favorite Hopkins quote⌠the interviewer asked, your opponent says youâre a dirty fighter. What do you say about that?
He answered, itâs a fight, ainât it?
I loved his back and forth with Larry the smartass.
But man was it beautiful when he had it. Wildly faster than everyone he was fighting.
Hamed and Roy had a lot in common. Both had insane natural abilities that caused them to develop their own styles. Styles no boxing coach would ever teach.
Once they slowed down just a bit their flaws were exposed. Then again MAB probably wouldâve always beat Nas and Tarver seemingly had Roys number anyway. Their first fight was a gift decision if I remember correctly and he beat Roy in the amateurs.
Can you imagine Rogan doing this? Lol
Pernell âSweet Peaâ Whitaker. Amazing defensive fighter.
