On this night, both would be a nightmare for any top 10 heavy of all time.

Based on that I believe Tyson could take Foreman. Speed kills and Tyson would end the fight similar to Holyfield vs Foreman. Tyson would tko a prime Foreman, though.

Agreed. Saw a documentary that talked about young Lewis visiting the Catskills to train with Tyson when they were both teenagers and from those accounts Lennox got the better of him.

Tyson always had problems with tall fighters, went to a draw to Tony Tucker, made Razor Ruddock look like a championship contender fighter. Lewis schooled Ruddock in 1 or 2 rounds, KO’ing him and we know how Tyson/Lewis turned out later on.

Weren’t most of Tyson’s opponents “taller”

Best jab a HW ever had IMO. Elite in his prime but also after the Tyson loss at 38 went 20-2 with both decision losses as an old man. He is a gentleman too.

The reason people question Lewis is because when competition got stiff so did he.

Not many top heavies are clean kod like that twice.

Thought I’d see more Charlie Z nominations.

Iron Mike - I know objectively he’s not the best but in terms of my favorite, it was just the time period he was in his peak… say about 1986 to 88 give or take

I was 10 yrs old and for a young boy it just captured the imagination seeing the almost cartoonish knockouts, terrifying appearance and power as well as all sorts of shenanigans and badassery outside the ring

“Baddest man on the planet” indeed

Yes, but I said tall. Lewis and Tucker are 6’5, Ruddock is 6’3.

Sure, but he avenged both of those losses convincingly.

I grew up watching Julio Cesar Chavez then Roy Jones Jr came along and I fell in love with boxing. Mayweather came and I really started to break down fights and became a hardcore fan.

So those are my top 3 favorites.

hmmm. I’ll have to go with Tyson. Remeber getting PPVs at my buddy’s house. His parents had that 15 foot wide metal satellite dish.

Once we got into MMA. Boxing took a back seat.

Back at alta @NiteProwleR use to message me when a good Boxing match was on.

Mailbox pretty empty these days

Doesn’t mean much since Tyson was so far past his peak.

It did show Tyson’s chin though.

I have a hard time believing Lewis could do all that one-sided damage vs peak Tyson, with his defense and counters.
Took 8 rounds of it.

And what I’ve heard about their sparring back in the day was that Tyson had the upper hand in the beginning by being very aggressive, and Lewis adapted and looked better towards the end.
Lewis was 18 and Tyson was 17.

That said, Lewis is one of the fighters that comes to mind who should matchup well with Tyson.
Could he control the ring for long enough to beat peak Tyson? I don’t know. I could see him getting a decision win.
Tyson was better and hit harder than McCall and Rahman though…

Loved Thunder Gatti fights, me and a buddy would order all his fights back in the day

Charlie Z vs Dan Quinn would have been awesome!

My counterargument is that Lewis would not be so lackadaisical against any version of Mike Tyson. He would be at his best which is pretty sharp and dangerous.
