Alex looked off

Terrible performance from Alex. He refused to open up and let his hands go. Frustrating to watch him give the fight away and be so gun shy.

No surprise, I always thought he was just there to hold pads, but now he is stealing the limelight from Cus D’Amato

Fucking bastard

In addition to Alex, Jon Jones and Dana White were the big losers last night.

Ank has a shitty style that can make you fight shitty imo. It makes for shitty fights. The irony is I fight like this too, but I’m not a pro, I’m just an old man in a young man sport

This completely irrelevant since the fight is scored in 5 different 5 minute segments. I swear people genuinely have no idea how fights are scored.

Just got round to watching and so glad i didn’t get up at 5am to watch. Boring fight. Wondered if maybe Poatan was showung a bit of age? Often when a fighter won’t let his hands go it’s father time stipping them.

Honestly it just popped up right before posting.

He clearly won round 1 and round 5. 3 is the close round and I haven’t had a chance to watch it on video yet. Live I thought pereira won round 3 but maybe it looked different on tv.

Alex gave Ank way too much respect. Anks wrestling isn’t great and he isn’t particularly strong in submissions or finishing once he gets it to the ground. Alex fought against those takedown attempts like his life depended on it, even though he could have forced the stalemate to finish the round.

In the rematch I think he opens up on the striking more and probably comes in better conditioned

Do you even lift bro

Ank was constantly using a low feint and looking at Alex’s legs as if he was gonna shoot

Thé danger of it was constant and from early in the fight he tried for takedowns and clinch control where he absolutely owned Pereira

Pereira was carefully steered towards a championship and has been dodging the Russian because of what you saw last night

I know a guy that trains in Vegas, a big guy that wrestled in college, and he’s trained with Ankalaev multiple times and he told me Ankalaev has terrible wrestling and won’t be able to take pereira down. So I’m not sure why anyone thought Ankalaev was a big threat on the ground
