I noticed it fag. Alex didn’t do anything about it. He could have feinted or used his right hand, or even thrown the left high kick to occupy Magomed’s right hand. He landed a ton of calf kicks off that leg and could have used that threat to land the high kick. But he never threw it.

Because Alex isn’t skilled like these Russian strikers. He got out struck. Alex isn’t fundamentally sound, he just has a lot of power. He’s like Tank Davis.

Tank is a one handed fighter with power. No traps, no right hand, no foot work, no jab and no plan B. Against Roach, Roach was taking that left away by countering back every time with his right hand. Then got off first to the body while intelligently applying pressure.

I disagree. Alex fought poorly and was gunshy because of the takedown threat. If these two fought in kickboxing, Alex knocks Ankalaev out in the first round.
Even fighting poorly, I thought Alex won. MMA is different from pure striking but let’s not act like Magomed won the fight because he’s a better striker. We all understand what we saw last night (some better than others).

I’ll repost this because it had nothing to do with the fear of a take down.
The bully got bullied and didn’t know how to respond to it. You can see Ankalaev studies Usyk’s game. The bouncing in and out on the toes, hand position, stance. The long jabs to the body and the high and low feints to set up his punching.
We also discussed the several ways Ank took Alex’s left hand away.
You should change your name if you really sat through that fight and thought Alex won lmao

You saw Khabib vs Conor right? One was a competent striker and one was a guy who knocked people out. We saw what happened in that fight.
Conor would have starched Khabib in a kickboxing fight, same day, same time.
Same here. Ankalaev is a great striker, I’ll give that to him. But if you’re sitting here telling me he’s gonna beat a former GLORY two division champion in HIS rule set, there’s no way I would ever agree. That’s just silly talk.
