I only read this part lol. I said name me guys Alex fought in Glory that are as good/great as the guys I named lol. His resume in kickboxing wasn’t anything special
I used to think the idea of defending being offensive was stupid, but think about it.
If a fight started on the ground instead of the feet and the guy on bottom was trying to get up but failed, he wouldn’t get rewarded for trying to failing to change where the fight takes place. But the guy on top gets rewarded for “control time”.
I think if you’re defending takedowns and keeping the fight where you want it, that should count for control (which obviously comes after damage and all of that).
You lost me with the “I only read this part”. Neither is Ankalaev’s in kickboxing because he’s never competed there. Alex fought all the best guys in Glory and beat them, sometimes twice, and often knocked them out.
I’m not gonna sit here and compare two different eras of kickboxing with you because we both know that’s irrelevant to the conversation. If you don’t wanna read what I type then I don’t know what to tell you, that’s on you. I’ve made my argument pretty clear.
That’s irrelevant to the conversation. That’s why I said before I’m not gonna compare eras with you. Kickboxing and MMA are two different forms of combat. Boxing isn’t just what it used to be. MMA isn’t what it used to be. So there. All equal.
Using your logic, there are no great legendary guys for him to beat, so he beat all the best guys he could right? Just stop it. You know this is pointless.
Ankalaev got dropped twice by a 38 year old Santos, had to take Jan down because the low kicks were too much (and still lost IMO), and only definitively beat guys who are not at an elite level. Anyone else he beat he did it with the takedowns, and control. Mixed Martial Arts. Same with Alex, he didn’t get the takedown, but spent the entire 4th round cage stalling. Why feel the need to do that if he’s out striking Alex and winning? He did the cage stalling in other rounds too. Take the 4th round “control” away and Alex gets the fight on two judges scorecards.
Doesn’t matter what he is or isn’t to a random poster on a forum. What he is, to everyone in the world, is a former world champion in two entirely different combat sports.
