Hugo said all has royce really did was catch a few people who were totally unprepared with sloppy rear naked chokes. I just arrived at the hypothesis that he gave up the choke to try a iffy armbar

Tank crushed Hugo’s mma career in that fight.. Duarte came into the ufc with a huge reputation in Brazil but to my knowledge he never fought anyone of status .. he crushed Harold Howard but that’s not saying much .. Hugo looked good against Tank until he didn’t and after that he fought Kerr in an embarrassing fight in Pride and that was all she wrote for his mma run
I wish Tadeu had fought Ralph at extreme fighting 4 .. Duarte in extreme fighting would have been interesting as well

Royler held tadeu to a draw, and mikey burnett gave him a bludgeoning. i reckon ralph would have put him down handily

Hmm I’m not sure if Ralph would have beaten Tadeu - Eugenio beat Royler imo as he knocked him down with a nice right hand .. nevertheless that was a very close fight ..Mikey had the wrestling and boxing to hurt Eugenio - all Ralph had was aggressive bjj but it would have been interesting
Renzo was gassed and unable to do much to Tadeu at pentagon combat and rumor is, the pro-bjj crowd are the ones responsible for the lights going out .. hard to say

This was the first video produced by Gene LeBell’s WGF. Andre deserved an Oscar as best supporting actor, but was snubbed by the Academy.

Anyone remember the infamous Brazilian fighter “the black hand of death” or something similar? I forget his name but He fought Wallid Ismael in the streets and put him in the hospital .. he gained such a fearsome rep that even guys like mark Kerr supposedly turned down the chance to fight him . Then he fought in I believe WVT 5 and lost to Patrick Smith

I remember there being an ad in Black Belt magazine in the early-to-mid 90s advertising some weapons-based NHB event. It wasn’t the Dog Brothers, thought.

Edson fought Igor Vovchanchin and to his credit he stood toe to toe so I give him props there.. watching that fight now I think Edson was probably pretty skilled(especially for mid 90s mma)but just had the misfortune of fighting Vovchanchin
