My grandfather was also a Marine that fought in the pacific theater.
He would admit that he was a Marine and that he had been in during WW2 but the overwhelming majority of the stuff I know about what he did was piecing things together from other bits of information.

His actual career reminds me of Joe Tetiās (from Dual Survivor)ā¦ BS about actually serving in Force Recon (he was never actually in a Force Recon platoon - he got assigned to 2nd FORECON - my old company, now called 2nd MSOB (Raiders) after making it through BRC but then washed out at dive school and got shuffled off to a battalion recon unit as a supply manager for just over a year before he bolted), then was a National Guard Green Beret who went āstate shoppingā in order to be able to get his promotionsā¦ apparently Kennedy just transferred to Maryland Nat Guard unit because he will be able to get a commitment go to sgt major school thereā¦
