Three day broth only fast is the key.

this morning, post pre-breakfast exercise I had Moka-Pot Espresso with an English muffin, one half with peanut-butter/honey combo and the other half raspberry jam with butter combo, plus 4 pieces of these TJ chocolates:

afternoon exercise and now having a peanut-butter/bannna/yogurt smoothie

dinner will be Round2 of KFC: 2 pieces of Chicken(leg/thigh) with same Mashed Potatoes as yesterday

I think he’s talking about guys who just lift weights and are lazy everywhere else, like their diet and general wellness. I’ve never understood dudes that walk around with a lot of upper body muscle but have huge stomachs. Like, the “flight” part of fight or flight requires you to be able to run a little bit. Even the “fight” part.

The entire premise that exercise is making you fat is ridiculous on its face. Overeating and being sedentary is what causes people to be fat. The more muscle a person carries, the more freedom they can have in their diet.

I took 4800 steps so far today.

^the STEPS yield the best results when it’s intentional…not like walking from the FATmobile into the PiglyWigly to pick-up the 12 pack and Pork Rinds(becuz they’re carnivore) and other such steps

so the “daily steps” theory can be kind of misleading…a person can get some decent steps doing the usual shopping, but it’s not the same a stroll at the park or on a nature trail, or perhaps an adventurous urban exploration

yeah, it was another thing…I was reading these fitness article claiming all one has to do is LIFT WEIGHTS…even insinuating at times that cardio was detrimental to developing the CHAD structure…but when I observed people following this method my head began to itch because I just didn’t see the results the magazines were claiming…and when I saw a SHIRTLESS CHAD he was usually trotting down the sidewalk…and as mentioned above, all my other research and contemplations yielding the conclusion that the “All you need is WeightLifting” theory was WRONG

Do you want a cookie?

Cause you can probably afford the calories.

The adage about “form follows function” might be relevant here. Someone’s gotta protect the QB, and that ain’t happening on a low calorie diet!

Edit - that was supposed to be a response for @MasterOfMartialArts

Well yeah but you’re isolating exercise and taking everything else out of the equation. Lots of guys lift weights and eat like complete shit, and don’t care of themselves.

I was at the gym today and saw maybe 5 guys lifting. Every single one of them had a gut. Not a “had a rough few months and getting back to work” gut, but a “I don’t really give a shit about myself and am just lifting because I think it makes me look better” gut.

:joy:

My thought is that a lot of people only have a limited amount of motivation, free time, and knowledge to put into maintaining their health. Those five guys that just showed are probably doing the best they can with whatever they have in those three categories.

Good point. Not to give Raskel too much credit here but there is a lot of nuance to this topic.

Pretty much.

It’s also a priority thing. Being fit/in shape for me is very high on my priority list, and I’m not motivated by external factors (looks, chicks, etc). I’m motivated by my personal enjoyment, the physical benefits (feeling good, being in shape), and the mental benefits (pushing myself, growing).

But yeah I agree that most regular (non competing) people don’t think that way. I have nothing against guys who lift weights and have beer bellies, but I don’t necessarily want advice from them. To each their own.

I definitely agree that lifting weights alone, especially with a poor diet is not a way to attain fitness. A healthy lifestyle is wholistic. Most people have a component or two missing from their ideal physical condition.
